There have been some rumors flying around the internet that Bernina is going to release a new top-of-the-line machine. We've been waiting for what seems like ages for this machine to rear its beautiful head (and longer throat?).
Here is some information on the new machine from a newsletter a customer out there on the web received from their Bernina dealer (we cannot vouch for its accuracy or all that other legal mumbo jumbo):
Bernina is introducing a new member to the machine family, and it's called the Bernina 830 The Next Generation!! Limited information is available at this time, as we receive new information we will be sure to pass it on.
What we do know:
This is a top of the line machine
It is not replacing the 730E
70 unique features (some patented)
Largest sewing arm in the industry
Introduction date - July 2008
Available in stores August-October 2008
Consumer event in Kansas City to introduce the machine
Bernina of America will have a new website dedicated to the unveiling of the new 830 machine starting May 19th.
On this site customers will be able to register to attend a consumer event in July. Only 1,000 Bernina lovers will be selected to attend!!
We will let you all know where the new website is as soon as it is released. If you have signed up for the Bernina newsletter (at Berninausa.com) you may be reading about it soon. It's only 7 days away!!!
Yes, the 830 originally debuted in 1971 as the first Bernina with electronic foot control. It was the #1 model for 11 years. I suppose it is time to bring in the new, as they did with the 730. The 730 debuted in 1963 and was the first Bernina with the knee-activated presser-foot lifter - which we all do love! The 730E was released in 2005.
(PS - The image above was created for this blog entry and does not at all represent or intend to represent the new machine and its components, it is an outline of the 730E)
